The
Links, Incorporated was founded in 1946 in Philadelphia
and has made its name synonymous with strong programming
and organizational effectiveness, offering an international
program of various endeavors with enriched experiences
for those who are educationally disadvantaged and/or
culturally deprived.

of friendship, but also a chain of purposeful service. |

The three-fold purpose
of the Links, Incorporated - education, civic and cultural
- relates logically to the facets of the National Program:
Services to Youth, National and International Trends and
the Arts.

Building
Schools for the Children of Africa, Afri-care, African
Water Wells, Jamaica Relief Fund, Rwanda/Liberia
School in a Box and a myriad of on-going projects
in Africa and the Caribbean. |
Financial support
is derived from dues and assessments, which each member pays
as a personal obligation, and from community fund raising.
With controlled growth and selective membership, The Links,
Incorporated now includes chapters in 40 states and the District
of Columbia, international chapters in Nassau, Bahamas and
Frankfurt am Main, Hessen, Germany, for a total of more than
10,000 members.
In
February 1963, Angel City Chapter of the Links, Incorporated,
became the second chapter of the Links in Los Angeles. It
was organized by 10 Links who were newcomers to the area
and wished to join friendship and resources to improve community
life through creative and innovative projects.
Each
member of Angel City Chapter remains committed to this goal
and uses her talents to continue to develop varied and viable
civic programs.
Angel
City Chapter's major project is the Achiever Program. This
program embraces the Link's national components of Services
to Youth, the Arts, and National and International Trends
and Services.
